BH1 is a freestanding, self-sustaining, non-profit organization with a governing board of directors. We are the remainder corporation that retained assets and liabilities not purchased in the sale of the assets of Nashville’s Baptist Hospital Systems, Inc. to Ascension Healthcare in December 2001. Our primary goal is to serve as responsible stewards of these assets and liabilities through thoughtful investment, careful liquidation of assets and liabilities, and support of the growth of certain healthcare services—all for the ultimate benefit of the Nashville community. To this purpose, BH1 owns and operates two specialty hospitals known as Baptist Women’s Treatment Centers, located at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN and Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. We also own and operate one of the most advanced aesthetic medical clinics called Surface Skin & Facial Rejuvenation Clinics. From time to time, BH1 makes investments in other companies. These investments are designed to generate funds to retire future liabilities of the company.
