BH1 contributes clinical and operational expertise to not-for-profit organizations supporting women's health initiatives in middle Tennessee. Two organizations with origins at BH1 include:

Southeast Rehabilitation

BH1 and Saint Thomas Health Services Outpatient Rehabilitation created a joint venture to provide sports medicine and outpatient rehabilitation services. The joint venture commenced in 2009 with a goal to provide high quality service to underserved communities in Tennessee, northern Alabama and southern Kentucky. The clinics utilize techniques and programs developed by the renowned Baptist Sports Medicine and Life Therapies division of St. Thomas Health Services. As a result of this non-profit partnership, Southeast Rehabilitation will establish up to 15 new Baptist Sports Medicine and Life Therapies clinics beyond the current geographic radius of STHS facilities and outside of the Nashville metropolitan area.

Maternal Health Integrator

In 2008, BH1 founded the non-profit organization the Maternal Health Integrator. The Integrator operates to improve birth outcomes and alleviate the problem of infant mortality by early identification and support for at-risk, pregnant women.

The Maternal Health Integrator was created to align the incentives of managed care companies and outreach providers to reduce the number of negative birth outcomes. The Integrator will serve as a facilitator between non-profit community based outreach agencies and managed care organizations to efficiently encourage positive birth outcomes for women in Tennessee. Community based outreach providers receive financial rewards for assisting mothers to make pro-health decisions including entry into the healthcare system and maintaining healthcare provider visits which increases positive birth outcomes. Incentives are earned by birth mothers for pro-health behaviors such as smoking cessation, alcohol and drug treatment, and chronic disease screening.

Baptist Women's Treatment Center

BH1 created the Baptist Women's Treatment Centers in January 2002 to provide services to women in Nashville and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Baptist Women’s Treatment Centers were comprised of two non-profit acute care hospitals, each with two beds, located in Baptist Hospital and Middle Tennessee Medical Center. In November 2002, the Baptist Women's Treatment Center (BWTC) Nashville and Murfreesboro opened their doors providing OB patients the option to have tubal ligations with their deliveries at both facilities. Both facilities were fully JCAHO accredited and ceased operations December 31, 2008.
